Royal Doulton Canton Table for One

I am asked all the time - do I use all the dishes I have? Do I give lots of parties? The truth is I don't do a lot of parties (that is Pat's favorite thing to do.) But I do set a table for myself at each meal - maybe not always formal, but I like to use different dishes, placemat, napkins, flatware, and glasses. I can "throw" a meal together that is easy and quick to prepare, but on a nice table, it taste and looks divine. I would rather spend time on the tablescape than on the food - anytime. (I wish my waistline looked like I spent more time on setting the table than eating at it, but that's another story.....)

Anyway, this week's table is another one using a set of our dishes that we haven't used in the past or one that it's been a very long time since they were in a tablescape. The pattern is called "Canton" by Royal Doulton (produced from 1977 thru 1996.)

The place setting

Flatware is "Gold Iconic" by Wallace Silver Company. You can see the gorgeous detail on the rim of the plate

The salad plate matches the dinner plate

The charger is "Colonial Blue" Color Spectrum by Mikasa

Glassware is "Monterey" by Cristal D'Arques from Ross

The simple napkin ring is soft pink to match the pink in the dishware pattern

One last look
Sharlotte at Sharlotte's Reflections (http://mssharlottessouthernreflections.blogspot.com/) said it perfectly in a comment she made last week - Sometimes we do forget to pamper ourselves. I think that it is really OK to take time to be good to ourselves....and we should all do it more often.

Where it came from:
Colonial Blue Charger - "Color Spectrum" by Mikasa from eBay
Flatware - "Gold Iconic" by Wallace Silver Co. from Replacements
Dinnerware - "Canton" by Royal Doulton from eBay and Replacements
Glassware - "Monterey" by Cristal D'Arques from Ross
Individual Salt/Pepper Shakers - from our Mother
Candle Holders - Dollar Store
Napkin Ring - PVC pipe cut into 1" rounds and spray painted with Fusion Spray Paint in coordinating color
Silk Flowers, Glass Rocks, Square Glass Vase - Michael's

  1. I know those dishes.. They have a formality that is lovely. Such pretty colors and it's awfully nice to pamper ourselves!

  2. Stunning! It's always a good idea to pamper yourself. A few months ago I bought some additional pieces so that I'd have a full place setting of Waterford Pink Duchesse (Vera Wang), some silverplate flatware, Irish linen napkins and crystal glassware just for myself. It makes all the difference!
