Valentine's Day Table

Time to celebrate St. Valentine and his day. Pat set this week's Table for One with him in mind:

Flatware is "Pendulum" by Robert Welch - I found it at Bed, Bath, and Beyond on a sale shelf years ago

Pat stepped out of her comfort zone and chose this napkin ring - I love highly decorative ( I should just say gaudy) napkin rings  but Pat is usually a bit more "constrained"

Pier 1 used to bring these glasses out at Christmas time but we use them all year long

Another "Betty" figurine from my collection

Where it came from:
Red Hemstitch Place Mat - from Bed, Bath, and Beyond six or seven years ago
White "Wispy" Charger and Salad Plate - from Pier 1 many years ago
Red Dinner Plate and Matching Bowl - "Fun Factory" by Waechtersbach from Replacements.com
Glassware - from Pier 1 several years ago
Flatware - "Pendulum" by Robert Welch from Bed, Bath, and Beyond ten years ago
Red, Gold and White Napkin Ring - from Pier 1 two years ago
Candle Holders - from TJMaxx years ago
Red Candles - from Ross last year
Betty Boop Figurine - from my collection
Centerpiece Arrangement Fillers - from Michael's last year

Celebrating Older Fiesta(ware) Table

With the release of the new color this week, Homer Laughlin Fiesta(ware) managed to excite a lot of people - unfortunately, I was not one of them. While the color's name, Butterscotch, is fun sounding and unique, I am not overwhelmed by the color. As Pat always tells me however, wait until you actually see the color on plates - not just pictures. The new color is described as "orangey-yellow" and that will make fifteen signature colors available when it is on the shelf starting in June.

Well, Pat took pity on me this week since I was a bit unhappy with the new color release and set the table using one of my favorite Fiesta(ware) colors - "Periwinkle." She mixed it with "White" Fiesta(ware.)
"Periwinkle" is a retired color and was produced from 1989 through 2006. "White" Fiesta(ware) is an active pattern and has been produced since 1986.

Talk about nostalgia - remember Princess House Home parties years ago? By the amount of Princess House stuff we own, it looks like Pat and I were invited to lots of them......this glassware pattern is "Esprit"

Pat used a Fiesta(ware) "Periwinkle" open carafe to hold an arrangement winter pine cones

Where it came from:
Periwinkle Blue Plate Mat - from Gottschalk's (a local department store long out of business) years ago
Dinnerware - "Periwinkle" and "White" Fiesta(ware) by Homer Laughlin from Replacements.com and Macy's
Flatware - by Hampton Forge from Tuesday Morning several years ago
Glassware - "Esprit" by Princess House
"Periwinkle" Candle Holders - iconic "Pyramid" from eBay
"Periwinkle" Open Carafe - Fiesta(ware) by Homer Laughlin from a local antique store last year
Winter Pine Cones - from Pier 1 two or three years ago
Napkin Ring - "Periwinkle" Fiesta(ware) by Homer Laughlin from another local antique store

Soup with a Gusto Table

For all you Fiesta(ware) lovers, this next week is soooo exciting. Homer Laughlin Co. is announcing the "new" color for this year. The countdown clock on their webside is ticking and the anticipation is building.....what will the new color be???? The announcement date is January 14th.

Pat carried the "soup theme" from our other blog over to this one by using a large Fiesta(ware) Gusto bowl as the inspiration for the table this week.
Both "Sage" and "Claret" are discontinued colors in the Fiesta(ware) line. Pat used the plaid napkin for the color choice.

The Gusto bowl holds a whopping 28 ounces - and is, as all newer Fiesta(ware) is, dishwasher and microwave safe.

Flatware is "Musee" by Reed & Barton.

The charger is a "Claret" Fiesta(ware) Chop Plate

As you probably know (since I complain about it all the time), Fiesta(ware) does not produce bread and butter plates anymore. This is actually an appetizer plate.

Pat used simple glasses from the Dollar Tree

Where it came from:
Place Mat - from Tuesday Morning two or three years ago
Dinnerware - "Claret" and "Sage" Fiesta(ware by Homer Laughlin from Replacements.com, Macy's, and Kohl's
Flatware - "Musee" by Reed & Barton from Horchow three years ago
Plaid Napkin - from Pier 1 last year
Napkin Ring - from Bed, Bath, and Beyond several years ago

Rosie's Birthday Table

Pat wanted to set a table to brighten up a very gloomy, dark and wet day. It's noon and every light is on in the house. (I'll turn most of them off as soon as we finish setting the table.....I'm cheap.) Rain is coming down and it is suppose to continue until tomorrow. So - she decided to celebrate one of my dachshund's big day - we don't really know the actually birthday since all of my dogs were/are rescued but I picked a date when I got them and celebrate each one's "special" day. So, Happy Birthday, Rosie even if the table is for a human.
I have always loved this dinnerware - "Dachshund" by the Danbury Mint

Flatware is "Twist" by Gourmet Settings

The salad plate comes in four different dachshunds

The charger is "Colonial Blue" Color Spectrum by Mikasa

Glassware is our "fallback" favorite - from the Dollar Tree

Pat used a red "dog collar" napkin ring to carry through with the doggy theme - we found the dark charcoal gray napkin on the sale shelf at Pier 1 two or three week's ago. We bought all eight of them.

Easy and very fun table decoration - Pat used a fire hydrant and "Sandicast" dachshunds

Where it came from:
Black Wicker Place Mat - from Pier 1 years ago
Charger - "Colonial Blue" Color Spectrum by Mikasa from eBay
Dinnerware - "Dachshund" by Danbury Mint - a gift from a Friend several years ago
Flatware - "Twist" by Gourmet Settings from Bed, Bath, and Beyond three years ago
Glassware - from the Dollar Tree (still available)
Napkin - from Pier 1 this season
Dog Collar Napkin Ring - from eBay
