Time Is Running Out Table

The end of the year is almost here...can you believe it? The years seem to go faster the older I get. But I am not complaining - I am grateful because the alternative to "getting old is denied to many."

Pat wanted to set a table that would remind all of us that 2016 is almost gone. Here's what she came up with:

The place setting

Flatware is "Fluence" by Oneida - it is my absolute favorite stainless flatware. I love the sleek, seamless handles.

Pat started the place setting with a silver gift ornament

Dinnerware is "Blue Frost" by Lenox (2201-2016). The platinum band goes well with the stainless steel.

Where it came from:
Blue Placemat - from Bed, Bath, and Beyond last year
Silver and Glass Charger - "Silver Luster" from Pier 1 this season
Dinnerware - "Blue Frost" by Lenox from eBay and Replacements
Flatware - "Fluence" Stainless Steel by Oneida (2007-2009) from Replacements
Stainless Steel Water and Martini/Wine Goblet - from Pier 1 last year but still available
Napkin - Handmade by Pat
Silver Gift Ornament - from Pier 1 three years ago
Silver Hour Glasses - from Ross several years ago

Pink Roses and Depression Ware Table

Pat went International and mixed things up a bit this week by using Italian Capodimonte Roses, American Depression glass, and Japanese dinnerware.
Nothing too fancy - just sweet

Flatware is "20th Century Baroque" by Wallace Silversmiths (or as I refer to it: the Poor Man's "Grand Baroque")

Pat started the place setting with an "American Sweetheart" Depression glass sherbet and liner

Dinnerware is "La Rose" by Mikasa

The charger is "Rose" Color Spectrum by Mikasa - it's more like a dusty pink color but works well with the dinnerware

The Capodimonte roses were a gift from our Dad to our Mother (her name was "Rose".) Pat gave the arrangement more prominence by using a Depression glass pedestal bowl to raise it up a bit.

Where it came from:
Lace Placemat - from Lentz Department Store in Ferndale (a really neat local store now out of business after the owners retired)
Charger - "Rose" Color Spectrum by Mikasa from eBay
Dinnerware - "La Rose" by Mikasa (1987-1998) from Pat's daughter (another set of dishes that I "borrowed" years ago and haven't returned yet.....)
Glassware - "Rosaline" by JG Durand from Replacements
Bowl and Liner - "American Sweetheart" by MacBeth-Evans from our collection
Flatware - "20th Century Baroque" by Wallace Silversmiths from Horchow's
Vintage Napkin - from our collection
Other Depression Ware - from our collection
Capodimonte Roses - from our Mother's curio years ago....

Dog Days Table for One Style

Like I confessed on our other blog last week, my family loves dogs, and we have owned many over the years (or should I say, as a true dog lover, that they owned us???) Anyway, Pat decided to do a "doggy" table this week for this blog. And she chose a piece of Dachshund dinnerware by Danbury Mint as a starting point.

Flatware is black "Decision" primastone by Noritake

The inexpensive mint green dinner plate is "Martillo" from Pier 1 last year

Glassware is brown "Clarion" by Lenox

Pat took the red geraniums on the Collector's plate and made a small arrangement of matching silk flowers for the table

Where it came from:
Brown Charger - Inexpensive lacquer charger from Michael's that was spray painted with plastic adhesive spray paint
Dinner Plate - Mint "Martillo" from Pier 1 last year
Accent/Salad Plate, Cup and Saucer - "Dachshund" by Danbury Mint (a gift from a dear friend)
Flatware - Black "Decision" by Noritake from Replacements and eBay
Glassware - Brown "Clarion" (1977-1983) by Lenox. Confession time: I bought it when it first came out many, many years ago...........they really last.
Red Napkin - from Bed, Bath, and Beyond two years ago
Dachshund Figurine - "Sandicast" Scupltures from the Hallmark Store years ago
Decorator Collection Dachshund Plate - "Welcome Home" by Christopher Nick from Danbury Mint
Candle Holders - Black Westmoreland glass twisted holders from our collection of Depression ware
Candles - "Oatmeal" 12 inch tapers from the Ferndale Emporium (a local kitchen and gift boutique)

Spode Pink Tower Lunch

Spode Pink Tower has been around for a very long time. The Tower pattern has been produced in a variety of different colors from black to purple, to blue, to brown, to green, and even multicolor  variations.  I started to collect it after my dear "dish addiction enabling" cousin bought me some pieces as a gift. Big mistake.....I love it and can't stop buying it.

Anyway, Pat decided to use it this week to set a sweet but elegant luncheon place setting:
You don't need flowers or a fancy centerpiece when you set a table with such a pretty pattern.

Flatware is "Grand Colonial" sterling silver by Wallace. Our Cousin gave us a set of eight 5-piece place settings. WOW!

Since this was a luncheon setting, Pat used a casual "Cinnabar" Fiesta(ware) chop plate as a charger.

Where it came from:
Charger - "Cinnabar" Fiesta(ware) by Homer Laughlin from Replacements
Dinnerware - "Pink Tower" by Spode from various places (gifts, eBay, Replacements, antique stores)
Flatware - "Grand Colonial" by Wallace Silver Company gifted from my Cousin
Glassware - "Monterey" by Cristal d'Arques from Ross
Candle Holders - by Mikasa from Tuesday Morning
Butterfly Napkin Ring - from Tuesday Morning
Burgundy Napkin - Handmade by Pat
Candles - from Bed, Bath, and Beyond
