Sinterklaas Table for One

December 5th is just around the corner and time for Sinterklaas to appear. (Sinterklaas is not exactly the Dutch form of our Santa, but his tradition runs as deep. (You can read a little about him at:  http://www.iamsterdam.com/en-GB/experience/what-to-do/whats-on/event-guide/december/holiday-season-in-amsterdam/Sinterklaas ) So, what could be more appropriate than to set a table in honor of him?
A very Dutch-like table

Here he is - the man of the hour: Sinterklaas

Close up of the place setting

Flatware is European-style "Pure" by Gourmet Settings

Pat and I bought these glasses the first year that Pier 1 opened in our town

An over-sized Waechtersbach dinner plate was used as a charger

Vintage cobalt blue Fiesta was the perfect color - not as dark as the Post 86 version

Universal China made this pattern in several slight variations using different rims

Pat originally bought these tiny white pitchers to use as individual syrup holders for breakfast

I am sooooo sorry this is out of focus (it's the best picture of the bunch I tried to take) - the detail on Sinterklaas' "windmill" staff is incredible

Silver Santa and Reindeer Table for One

Silver and white is the theme for this week's table. Pat pulled out one of the silver Santas from my collection and came up with this table:
The table

Silver Santa is standing in "snow"
The place setting

Flatware is "King James" by Oneida

Pat rarely uses gawdy napkin rings - but it works for this place setting

From Pier 1 this year, the white frosted snowflake water goblet is coupled with a silver wine glass

Instead of a candle, Pat used a glitzy mirrored ornament to add more "silver" to the table

Jim Shore Santa Table for One

When Pat's daughter was here last week, I pulled out one of my Santas (just one of the "things" that I collect) and challenged both Pat and Jennifer to set a table using it. The Santa is from Jim Shore ("Delivering Joy") and is typical of his style. Since we used a table last week designed by Jennifer, it was Pat's turn. Here is what she came up with:
Over view of the table - Pat "wrapped" the place setting

Flatware is inexpensive Amethyst "Ditto" from Ikea

The "present" - Pat took the place setting and wrapped it like a gift.

Every time I saw one of these chargers, I picked it up - I don't know the name or manufacturer, but the first one I bought was from Ross Dress For Less. I found this one at a thrift shop. And I found the rest on eBay.

Glassware is from Pier 1 last year

This figurine is called "Delivering Joy"

Yes, Pat found matching tiny ornaments.....

First Winter Post - Through the Snow......

Although we rarely get snow here along the north coast of California, it's always fun to set a snow theme table. Pat' daughter was home again this weekend and set the table for us.
Over view of the table - done in white, tan, and teal tones

Close up of the place setting

Flatware is Silverplate "King James" by Oneida.

The teal crackle glasses are from Pier 1 last year

The tan napkin (inside the teal overlay) matches the Champagne colored glittered charger

Jennifer took a satin napkin gathered in the center and wrapped it around the charger to add more color.

Teal 12" tapers sit in frosted candle holders

These adorable figurines are from a set that Costco had a year or two ago
