Adopt a Shelter Pet Day Table

April 30th is National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day. As most people know, I rescued several unwanted dachshunds (finding families for some - but I was "blessed" with the six remaining.) Sadly, the older ones have passed, but I still have three wonderful dogs left. I always say that I am a hoarder - dishes and dachshunds all over the place......it's quite a houseful.

Pat decided to set the table to celebrate rescue dogs.

Candle holders are made from doggy chews

This is Marge and her dog, Max - from Richard Simmons Dolls

We have dachshund salt and pepper shakers, but Pat thought these were more fun to use....

I only have one refrigerator magnet.......and it says it all.
Where it came from:
Bone Place Mat - Handmade
Dinnerware - "Dachshund" by Danbury Mint (a gift from a very dear friend)
Flatware - "Hammered" by Godinger from our collection
Glass - from the Dollar Store
Brown Napkin - Handmade by Pat
Salt/Pepper Shaker - from Ross several years ago
Figurine - "Marge and Max" Annie Wahl doll for Richard Simmons (from our Mother)

Meet Monroe (my long haired Dachshund) - He's "helping" me take tablescape pictures for the blog. I'm not sure how old he is - but I have had him for ten years. His eyes are a little cloudy now and he's turning gray, but I love him dearly. You get so much in return when you rescue a dog......
We will be joining the following Blog parties this week:
"Dishing It! & Digging It!" at Rustic & Refined this Sunday:  http://www.rustic-refined.com/
"Tablescape Thursday" at Between Naps on the Porch:  http://betweennapsontheporch.net

  3. My mother-in-love always had a dachshund, and each one was such an integral part of our family. Thanks for the memory and for inviting us for a peek. Cherry Kay

  4. Oh my goodness - LOVE this!! The fire hydrant S&P's caught my attention immediately, as did the dachsie plates and the chewtoy candle holders. I used to have a sweet little red dachsund named Peanut. Since I'm not currently blessed with a doggie, I'll celebrate April 30th with my shelter cat Lily. Thank you for such a fun table!
