Pat set the table this week using a pattern from our single place settings collection. It is called "Monterey" from Lenox (1938-1948.) Lenox actually produced another pattern called "Monterey" in the 1980's, but I think that this one is much more attractive.
Where it came from:
Charger - Burgundy "Color Spectrum" by Mikasa from Replacements.com
Dinnerware - "Monterey" by Lenox (1938-1948) from our collection
Flatware - "Antique Baroque" by Wallace from Horchow's
Amber/Gold Crackle Glassware - from Pier 1 two years ago but still available
Burgundy Napkin - Handmade by Pat
Napkin Ring and Candle Holders - from "Tailwaggers" (a local Thrift Store that supports animal rescue)
Candles and Silk Flowers - from Michael's
Gold Bowl and Gold Tea Lights - from Pier 1 three years ago
We will be joining the following Blog parties this week:
"Dishing It! & Digging It!" at Rustic & Refined this Sunday: http://www.rustic-refined.com/
"Tablescape Thursday" at Between Naps on the Porch: http://betweennapsontheporch.net/
About our single place settings collection (or Confessions of an Uncontrolled Dishaholic): As you have probably already guessed by now, Pat and I are addicted to dishes.....we literally have dozens and dozens of dinnerware sets with eight place settings or more. And this doesn't include the 27 or so complete sets of Fiesta dinnerware in different colors. Naturally, space is a problem. A Big Problem. A Very Big Problem. So - we had to do something. Stop buying or collecting dishware??? Not an option. That's when I hit upon individual place settings in various patterns. The skies opened up! The Earth moved! All was well with the world again. I could still enjoy beautiful place settings and manage to walk through the house without bumping into stacks of dishes. And that is why and how this blog started - to use our 50-plus single place settings. We have "branched out" a bit and often use other dinnerware now and then, but we try to feature something from our collection as much as we can.
Another Disclaimer: Pat just called after reading the blog.....she's making me add that we have each been collecting dishes for over forty years. She's says that doesn't sound as bad. I'm not quite so sure...............
You two ladies are enabling my obsession with dishes! Loving that lenox pattern. And don't worry about what people think about owning 50 plus dish settings.
ReplyDeleteThat's my goal in life!
Have a great week and thank for joining the DI & DI Link party each week :-)
