Scottish Tartan Plaid Table

The inspiration for this week's table came from a gift from a dear friend (the same one that gave me the "Rhine" dinnerware a few years ago used on last week's table.) Living in England and Australia the last forty years, she is here completing estate business, and when we went to lunch, she handed me a bag from the National Trust for Scotland with a lovely tartan plaid placemat and napkin ring in it especially for the "Table For One" blog. WOW! Pat and I couldn't wait to use it.....
The table

Flatware is one of Pat's very favorite - "Image" by Spode

Still one of the best - Dollar Store green glassware

Love these plates - real "work horses." We have them in several colors....."Spice Route" from Pier 1

The inspiration for the table

Vintage dark green Fiesta bread/butter plate - almost a perfect match

The napkin ring was attached to the placemat. I'm not sure of the significance of the acorns....Chaucer's "mighty oaks from little acorns grow" saying in his famous 14th Century "Troilus and Criseyde" perhaps????? I don't know.

The nutcracker was a gift from my niece

Found these nifty red glass candle holders at Ross years ago

Silk roses......remember, water rationing. No water for the yards......

  1. Oh, my, this table is lovely. I've always loved plaid, but this plaid is particularly attractive. You found just the right accent pieces to go with it, too (love the acorn napkin rings!). So very pretty, as always. Rosie @ The Magic Hutch
