Traditional 4th of July Table

Since we avoided red, white, and blue on our other blog for Independence Day, Pat decided to set a very traditional table for the Table For One blog. For her inspiration, she used one of her favorite white plates - this one has a square, sleek, coupe-like design from 10 Strawberry Street.
A traditional table

The square place setting is set on the diagonal

I call the blue champagne glass my "Joe Nye" glass after the late California decorator and designer. I fell in love with them after seeing them used on a table in a book he wrote entitled Flair

The flag napkin rings belonged to our Mother

Pat bought me a set of four place settings in this pattern from "The Cellar" at Macy's.

Where it came from:
Blue Placemat - from Bed, Bath, and Beyond
White Plate - by 10 Strawberry Street from Cuddly Bear (a local thrift boutique and one of Pat's very favorite shops)
Square Red Plate - the Cellar from Macy's five years ago
Flateware - "Everyday" by Reed & Barton from Bed, Bath, and Beyond
Red Goblet - from Pier 1 years ago
Blue Champagne Trumpet - from eBay
White Napkin - from Tuesday Morning
Napkin Ring - from our Mother's collection
Votive Holders and Tea Lights - from Bed, Bath, and Beyond
Vase - from Pat's collection
Silk Flowers, 4th of July Decorations - from Michael's

Not Bordallo Again!! Table for One

Like a lot of tablescapers, we have Bordallo Pinheiro "Cabbage" dinnerware. In all honesty, it is not one of Pat's favorites, but she will set a table for me once in a while since I love it. (I find that the dishes are not the best to eat from - they chip easily and dry food is hard to get off, but that's another story.) Anyway, here's another not-so-traditional Cabbage table.
The table

Flatware is "Montana" by Gourmet Settings

Since we do not own any white "Cabbage" dishware, Pat used an inexpensive dinner plate from Pier 1

We've probably been using this placemat way too much lately, but it is just great for all kinds of tablescapes

To add the look of succulents, Pat used these "faux" succulent napkin rings that we purchased at Pier 1 on sale last year (we could have gone out into my yard and pulled up the real thing since I am replacing everything that is dying from lack of water with these very water saving plants, but this was easier.....)

Where it came from:
Placemat - Bed, Bath, and Beyond (currently available)
Flatware - "Montana" by Gourmet Settings from TJMaxx
Green Dinnerware - "Cabbage" by Bordallo Pinheiro from where ever I can find it
White Dinner Plate - "Madeline" from Pier 1 two years ago
Brown Water Goblet - Mocha "Classic" by Libby from Kohl's several years ago
Wine Glass - from the Dollar Store
Brown Luncheon Napkin - Tuesday Morning
Succulent Napkin Rings - Pier 1 last year
Carmel colored Candle and Candle Holder - Michael's

Father's Day Table for One

Pat had a great time setting the table this week for Father's Day. Since our Dad was a professional Chef (never one to put on airs, he always called himself a "cook") it was easy to pull out some of his old personal cookbooks and kitchen equipment to decorate the table.
The table

What could more perfect that a wooden spoon? Pat used a simple black napkin ring (made from PVC pipe and spray painted black) to hold it

Of course, a checkered plate to match the Chef's pants

Very, very old, Pat found these cookbooks and old knife among Dad's stuff

Here's to you, Dad. Happy Father's Day. We'll never forget you......

Testing, One, Two, Three....

I just got back my computer from the repair shop - a very dangerous and lethal virus took over and held all my files ransom. Yes - they demanded money before the files would be released. According to the Computer store owner, it is the worst virus he has ever seen and it is going around rapidly, so BEWARE. Anyway, everything seems to be OK now.....

So - this week's table is a bit late, but here goes......

Pat bought me the flatware as a gift ("Palm Tree" by Cambridge from Tuesday Morning)

Another one of Pat's bargains - she found this set of four different lighthouses at a thrift store
