Seafaring Table For One

Pat's been "finding" inspiration all over my house lately. She walked by a small curio holding some Norman Rockwell figurines the other day and stopped in her tracks. Next thing I know - she had the Table for One set. Here is what she came up with:

The place setting

Flatware is "Hammered Copper" from Horchow's. It has the perfect look for a rustic nautical table.

Pat found the wooden charger at World Market a couple of years ago.

The inspiration figurine - "Captain" by Gorham.

Viola the Prize Winning Pig Table for One

Pat was searching for a theme this week and decided on "pigs." Yes, I said pigs. She spotted Viola, my prize winning ceramic pig that I made 40 years ago, way in the back on a shelf and knew that she was the inspiration for the table this week. I hadn't thought about Viola in years.....but there she was - sitting on the table waiting for dishes. Here is what Pat came up with:

You can't help but smile when you eat off this plate

Pat's husband spray paints inexpensive lacquer chargers for us in any color we can find. This one is called "nutmeg."

Sassy! That's Viola....no wonder she won First Prize at the ceramic show years ago.

Baby Elephant Walk TFO

This week's table features an elephant figurine that Pat and I bought at the Cancer Society's Discovery Thrift Store a few years ago. I just had to have it - I don't know why - but, then it sat on a shelf collecting dust. Well, finally, we are using it on a table.

Is That Corelle? Table for One

Recently, Pat found herself the benefactor of a set of abandoned Corelle. (Some people get kittens....Pat gets dishes.) She got it as a joke from a family friend who found them left in one of his rentals. Pat had explained to him that no dish should go to the dump without inspection and some introspection......it may be a priceless addition to a tablescape. Ergo, she received a very large box filled with deserted "treasures."
