Summer Trip to Hawaii Table for One

When Pat's daughter graduated from Medical school several years ago, she took Pat to Hawaii as a "Thank You" - just Mom and daughter to celebrate. (Poor Dad stayed at home.....) So, to Pat, Summer's end always brings back good memories of the wonderful time she had with her daughter.

It seemed natural to Pat that, when Cuisine Kathleen issued a challenge for this week to all tablescapers to do a "Farewell to Summer" table, a little "reminder" table of Hawaii would be perfect.
Over view of the table - we don't usually use plastic dishware, but as Pat said, this is the beach. Fine china just wouldn't be appropriate.

The place setting

Flatware is "Palm Tree" by Towle

We found these glasses at Bed, Bath and Beyond, but we bought them at Ross for a lot less

The salad plate

The mango driftwood charger is from World Market

Yes, that is real sand....

One last look
Where it came from:
Tablecloth -
Placemat - Pier 1
Charger - Mango Driftwood from World Market
Dishware - from Bed, Bath, and Beyond
Glassware - Ross
Flatware - "Palm Tree" by Towle from Tuesday Morning
Blue Napkin - from Tuesday Morning
Metal Palm Tree - from a local Hallmark Gift and Card Store years ago
Little Male Hawaiian Hula Dancer - gift from friends (when asked by my friends who were on their honeymoon to Hawaii what I would like as a souvenir , I jokingly told them to "slip a Hawaiian hunk into their suitcase and bring him on home to me" - so this is what I got....not as tall as I had hoped he would be.....)

We will be joining Kathleen's "Let's Dish" Challenge this Wednesday at Cuisine Kathleen:

We will also be joining Christine's "Table It" at Rustic & Refined this Monday:

And we will be joining Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for "Tablescape Thursday":

  4. Adorable plates and that charger is gorgeous!

  5. Now that is the perfect nod to all things beachy and nautical. The flatwear is over the top perfect!
    Very well done!

  6. Your tables for one are always a delight, and this one is no exception. I especially like the flatware with an embossed palm tree. I could definitely go for that!

  7. How cute! What a nice idea to tie in the end of summer with those memories of Hawaii. Love the plates, flatware and the setting with the palm tree. I've never been to Hawaii but I know plenty of people who have and they all loved it.

  8. Is that real sand on your table? How fun! I adore your palm tree flatware! You've set a table full of fun and fitting items for the beach scene. Love it!

  9. That could be Florida if you added Mickey instead of the hula dancer! ;-)

    Love it!

  10. What a great way to remember a vacation. The real sand and hula girl are the perfect centerpiece. I like the beach china for it has a fun vibe. Thanks for sharing!

  11. Eek! I always enjoy your tables for one, but this is definitely a favorite. Love the hula girl, the plates, well...everything. You sure met the challenge! Now someone pass me a frozen drink. ;)
