Haviland Ophelia Table for One

Most people know that Pat and I are nuts about dishes.....just looking around our houses and you can tell. Recently, I "added" to my collection of single place settings with the purchase of Haviland's "Ophelia" from eBay (a fabulous buy at $10.00) Pat started to play around with it today pairing it with several different colored chargers. Here is what she finally came up with:
Pat finally decided to use Mikasa"s Yellow "Color Spectrum" charger with the dinnerware. It looks equally as nice with blue, pink, and purple chargers.

Flatware is "Musee" by Reed & Barton

You can see how versatile this pattern can be - it has yellow, white, purple, hot pink, and several shades of blue

Several years ago, Pier 1 had several of these wicker-like chargers in ugly orange/red on the sale rack - we bought 16 and painted them

These lovely blue glasses by Portieux were a gift from our Cousins (who love dishes just as much as we do). We were given twelve each.

Where it came from:
Wicker Placemat - from Pier 1 years ago
Flatware - "Musee" by Reed & Barton from Horchow's
Yellow Charger - "Color Spectrum" by Mikasa from Replacements.com
Dinnerware - "Ophelia" by Haviland from eBay
Glassware - by Portieux from our very kind Cousins, Trev and Gary
Candle Holders - inexpensive wood holders from Michael's painted with "Portieux Blue" paint
14" Candles - from the Ferndale Emporium (a local gift/kitchen wares boutique)
Silk Flowers - from Michael's

  1. Very pretty! Love the color combo, and what a great idea it was to paint the Pier 1 placemats!

  2. I always love your tables for one! What kind of paints do you use on soft porous fabric like willow or wicker or on hard artificial surfaces like your plastic chargers? I so admire your thrifty creativity and the looks you create with paint-- but when I try to emulate it things either turn out goopy or the paint chips off right away.

  3. Beautiful tablescape for two. I love how fresh the colors are in your setting. You have reminded me to get busy on painting some extra straw placemats I have as well. Joining you from Tablescape Thursday
