Pat's Birthday Table

My sister is having a birthday this month. I've always said she is amazing. Of course, she is a great Mother and wife. She participates in Marathon walks and runs (and has won several medals). She climbed Mt. Lassen this Summer (an active volcanic mountain more than 10,000 feet high), and faithfully goes to the gym five days a week (where she lifts weights, jogs, does Pilates and Zumba.) She is a gourmet cook and gives fabulous dinner parties throughout the year. She was recognized by the State of California for all of her volunteer work. She has even been elected Mayor of her town. All this, and she will be turning 70 this month. Not bad.....

So when she picked Richard Simmons' "Nana's Birthday" doll for the inspiration for this week's table, I was surprised. The only thing that she and Nana have in common is their smile. [Pat jokingly pointed out that she did have her own teeth - unlike Nana.]

Set for two, the table is for Pat and her husband of more than 45 years.

The detail is incredible on this doll - from the lace on her dress,  her hair net, to the tiny Hummel figurine in her hand

No, I didn't goof.....I removed the glasses on one place setting so that you could see everything on the table.

Roses and Wedgwood Edme Table

One of Pat's favorite dinnerware patterns is "Edme" by Wedgwood. She uses it often because of its versatility - going from ultra formal to very casual.

Pat always refers to these glasses as "Ruffles have ridges" because of the whimsical rims
