Volunteer Fireman's Table

On January 28th of this year, Fortuna, one of our local towns, suffered a devastating fire that destroyed an entire city block. Fire engines from all the surrounding towns were called in to help battle the blaze - manned mostly by volunteer firemen. The community banded together - bringing the fire fighters food and drinks throughout the day. That night, Pat and her husband (who is a retired fire fighter for the California Department of Forestry/CalFIRE) prepared and served dinner at the Fire Station for everyone. (http://lostcoastoutpost.com/2015/jan/28/photos-demolition-fortuna-main-streets-star-hotel/)

Pat wanted to do a table to commemorate the brave men and women who worked so hard and so long to save Fortuna's historic Main Street.

Pretty in Pink Depression Glass Table

For this week's table, Pat decided to use a place setting that we have not used before. She chose Royal Albert's "Blossom Time" since the cherry trees are beginning to bloom. Not a favorite of pink, the table was a bit of a challenge for Pat. She went through the Depression glass that I own and came up with a really unique table.

Pat started with a bright rose pink piece of tulle and covered the plain white tablecloth to make it a soft pink.

Instead of a flower arrangement, Pat added a small bundle of roses held together by a pink ribbon
