Labor Day - American Made Style

Both of our tablescaping blogs this week feature tables that use American made items exclusively - no easy task in this day of cheaper imports and outsourcing labor. In all honesty, we started and set a causal table using classic "American made" Pfaltzgraff dinnerware, but, much to our dismay, we discovered that the Naturewood luncheon plate we used was made in China. So, we cleared the table, switched themes and chose Lenox. Since the older pattern Pat chose is the discontinued "Mansfield" and is part of the Presidential collection, we hope it was made in the good ole USA.
The table - boy, did we ever have problems finding candles and then, there it was. The candles are from Bed, Bath, and Beyond and manufactured by "Zodax" (a company right here in California). What a nice surprise!

The place setting - Lenox "Mansfield" charger, dinner plate, and luncheon plate topped with an Indiana Glass "Pebble Leaf" plate

Flatware is "April" by Wm. Rogers & Sons Silversmiths

I always love to use this water glass - "Diamond Point" by Indiana Glass Company

This great candle holder was manufactured by the Viking Glass Company until 1949

One of our very old vintage napkins

This lovely little shoe was a gift from a very special friend of mine (it belonged to her late Mother) - Fenton Glass "Hobnail" Colonial Green

Where it came from:
Dinnerware - "Mansfield" by Lenox "gifted" (actually borrowed several years ago and never returned) from Pat's daughter

Turqoise Adelaide Table

It seems that the common denominator for our tablescape blogs this week is the color turquoise ("The Welcomed Guest" has a turquoise and chocolate theme) - it wasn't done on purpose, it just happened. For this table, Pat put together 222 Fifth Street's Turquoise Adelaide with lots of black.
The table - sorry, I couldn't get the turquoise candle sitting on the tall candle holder in the picture

The place setting

Flatware is "San Remo" by Hampton Forge

The napkin ring is really neat -  the picture doesn't show it - it's pieces of small black glass

These vintage cone shaped glasses are one of my favorites - "Jet Black" by Reizart

Ah, ha! There it is - the turquoise candle...... Pat turned two shorter candle holders over to add interest.

Where it came from:
Dinnerware - Turquoise "Adelaide" by 222 Fifth from TJMaxx
Flatware - Black "San Remo" by Hampton Forge from Horchow's
Glassware - Jet Black (Disc. 1958) by Reizart from Replacements
Napkin - from Tuesday Morning
Napkin Ring - from Bed, Bath, and Beyond two years ago
Salt/Pepper Shakers - Depression Glass from eBay
Black Candle Holders - from Pier 1
Turquoise Candle - from Ross

Spode Harrogate Table

My very favorite Spode dinnerware pattern is called "Harrogate." I love it - I don't know why. Unfortunately, I only own one place setting, but I am grateful for that. Pat finally decided to use it this week - she didn't want to "add" a lot of extras to take away from the pattern. Here is what she came up with:
I think that this table is so beautiful......very simple, very elegant

Close up of the place setting - the rose was an accident. I knocked it out of the bowl and decided to leave it.

Pat used inexpensive goblets from Pier 1 because they were the right size

You can see the hand painted detail

I bought this cup and saucer (it was way too much money) with my Jury Duty money last year so that I would never forget the victims. It was an awful experience but made me appreciate the strength and will to survive that some women have.

Pat made a simple arrangement of small roses in a gold bowl from Pier 1

Where it came from:
Dinnerware - "Harrogate" by Spode from Replacements (I should own stock in the company....)
Flatware - pattern unknown by F.B. Rogers from eBay
Glassware and Gold Bowl - from Pier 1 several years ago
Green Napkin - Handmade by Pat
Gold Napkin Ring - from "Tailwaggers" (a local thrift shop that supports the Sequoia Humane Society)
Candle Holders and Sugar/Creamer - part of our Depression glass collection
Silk Flowers and Candles - Michael's

Farm Table for One

It seems that we are "stuck" in one tablescape theme this week - roosters. Why not test your tablescaping skills and see what you can come up with using the same inspiration piece? That's just what Pat did with this week's table:
It's County Fair time in our area - the perfect table to celebrate

Flatware is Ceramic handled "Iron Brown" by Noritake

Glassware is "Espresso" by Lenox

Pat used "Ivory" and "Lemongrass" Fiesta dinnerware to match the accent plate

Hard to find - brown lacquer chargers.....Pat's dear husband spray painted inexpensive chargers from Michael's for us

Another one of our Mother's dolls from "Nana's Family" - from Richard Simmons

Pat wrapped a lemongrass colored napkin in a demin napkin that matches the placemat. The napkin ring is a PVC pipe cut into 1" rounds and spray painted with Fusion plastic adhesive spray paint (another "project" from Pat's husband.)

Where it came from:
Denim placemat and matching napkin - Handmade by Pat
Brown Charger - inexpensive lacquer charger from Michael's sale bin spray painted
Assorted Fiesta Dinnerware - by Homer Laughlin from Macy's and Replacements (all of our Fiesta Bread/Butter plates come from Replacements)
Accent Plate - "Ol' McDonald" by American Atelier from eBay
Glassware - "Espresso" by Lenox (a gift from my niece from whom I borrowed her Lenox "Mansfield" chargers years ago and probably will never "remember" to return.....)
Ceramic Handled Flatware - "Iron Brown" by Noritake (I've had for over 35 years)
Figurine - by Annie Wahl for Richard Simmons (part of our Mother's "Nana's Family" collection)
Wind Mill - from Art & Old Things (our favorite local Antique store)
Brown Salt/Pepper Shakers - found at JoAnn's Fabrics years ago
